Streets RPG
"The Streets RPG" was an early experimental game of mine. It is basically a cross between a stat grinding game and a (very short) point and click adventure.
The core gameplay exists in the picture you see to the right. When I was creating it, I had a very slimmed down version of Pokemon's battle system in mind. I had plans to flesh out the idea further, but they were never developed. The main game centers around murdering people to gain money and to level up. You can enter a battle at any moment and receive a random opponent that is issued according to your level. You can not travel while in battle, so it is a gamble to continue fighting if you are low on health.
In order to fill your health back up, you can travel and visit the 'Gunz n Grocerys' store to buy healthsticks that can be consumed mid-battle. Or you can enter the hotel for $50 and get full health by clicking the bed.
There are quite a few places that have 'random events' that occur when you click them. I originally was going to have a time limit on how often you can try the random events, but as it is you can keep pressing your luck by clicking areas that look like they might trigger something. All random event areas have both good and bad things that can happen.
In order to get weapons, you can buy them at the same store as before or find them in random event areas. You will only be able to find weapons that are useful early on in the random event areas.
The gameplay is dead simple really. You just have to balance the odds of you dying against the odds of you getting more money. With the money you can put it in a bank to gain interest, test your luck at slot machines, or invest in your stat points at the gym.
It's a really basic game, but it is kind of fun in a mindless grinder type of way.
Try it out if you'd like. Source code included.
